Because the heat grate will only work so long.
The pet life is pretty easy. You get handed your food, there's a steady supply of water, sometimes you run around out back and then everybody takes a nap in front of the TV. The biggest stressor is figuring out where to flop when the alphas go to bed!
So it's important to give your stress-free pet a bed that they can call their own. Once it's clear where they sleep, life gets so easy! They can just walk over and zone out like some night watchman getting paid minimum mage! No hassles, no debates, no conflict, no problem.
Also maybe remember to wash it every now and then. Pets don't really know how to run washing machines. YET.
