You remember Pebbles? It's okay if you don't. She had a couple of hits in the late '80s and early '90s. But she does illustrate that giving doesn't always have to be physical. You can give your trust just as easily as you can give a present. Even though it's easier to get rid of trust. Obviously.

The Kinks - Give The People What They Want
The Kinks are always a bit ironic with their lyrics, but they certainly do know how to give an audience their money's worth. Even though some of the people hate on progress and new stuff, they still would flock to a modern Kinks reunion (if it happened) in hopes of seeing those classics. Um, this classic. Um, whatever.
Curtis Mayfield - Give Me Your Love
Curtis Mayfield wouldn't have been Curtis Mayfield without all those heartbreaks he wrote about. People forget that sometimes bad things are also a gift. They may not feel that way, but when you turn the pain inside out and give it back in a new form, like Mr. Mayfield did, you can see how the bad can ultimately benefit the world. Although, you know, that's no excuse to cause bad stuff in the first place. More of a justification after the fact.
KC & The Sunshine Band - Give It Up
So here we have a song from the end of disco that illustrates the darker side of giving. Because giving isn't something that you can request, right? Then it becomes taking! Giving is about the person who gives deciding to give all on their own. No offense to KC, I'm sure he meant well when he wrote it. But this song really isn't about giving, is it?
Kristen Vigard (dubbing over Illeana Douglas) - God Give Me Strength
God, as a concept, is the ultimate giver. Even if you don't think He is real, you can understand how a deity could be the source of everything. You know, like how in Marvel Comics movies all super-heroes come from the attempt to make a new Captain America? Oh, what, you can wrap your head around THAT but can't imagine an all-powerful figure that gives us stuff? Boy, are YOU going to be upset when we finally get that Galactus movie. PS: this is a really good song too.
